It induces a feeling of satiety, thanks to which the patient eats less and accustoms their body to ingest a smaller amount of food, without going hungry or suffering from anxiety, in addition, food remains longer in the stomach, reinforcing the feeling of satiety, which avoids the temptation to snack between meals.
How is the Allurion gastric balloon placed?
For its implantation, one capsule should be swallowed with the help of a glass of water and it should be placed between 5 and 10 minutes later.
An X-ray will confirm the placement and then the balloon will be filled with an amino acid substance through the catheter.
How is the Allurion gastric balloon removed?
16 weeks after the placement of the Allurion balloon, it empties spontaneously and excretes on its own. On very rare occasions, the Allurion gastric balloon requires removal via endoscopy or surgical intervention.
How long does the Allurion gastric balloon last?
80% of the weight is lost in the first 3 months after placement, influenced by several factors such as the characteristics, background and needs of each patient.

For whom is the Allurion gastric balloon indicated?
• People over 18 years of age with Type I or II Obesity, that is, patients whose weight loss needs range between 10-30 kilos.
• Patients with a BMI of 28 and above who have been unable to achieve and maintain weight loss through diet and other methods.
• It is also indicated before surgery in morbidly obese patients to facilitate the intervention.
• Patients who are planning to undergo cardiovascular, orthopedic or other types of surgery and require weight reduction to reduce the risks of the intervention and facilitate post-surgical rehabilitation.
